I am a veteran journalist and writer based in Kansas City, Mo. My assignments at the Kansas City star included editorial writer, opinion columnist, metro columnist, editor, crime reporter and City Hall reporter.

Now I’m a freelancer, still looking for good stories. I am a contributing writer at The Pitch and a contributor to KCUR and KCPT’s digital magazine.

Prior to arriving in Kansas City, I worked on newspapers in Syracuse, N.Y., and Reading, Pa. I also spent a year documenting women-owned businesses in Malaysia for a non-profit group. My bachelor’s degree in journalism is from Penn State University.

My interests: bikes, biographies, piano, family, friends, cats and kids. I have traveled on five continents but enjoy hanging out with my husband on our front porch in Kansas City’s Waldo neighborhood. I have three children, all grown, and two granddaughters.
